The Duo Acquitted of Kidnap and Murder Charges in Muar High Court

In a case that has captivated public attention, Shanmuganathan and Mageswaran, who were charged with kidnap and murder, have been acquitted by the Muar High Court. The charges were under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Act and Section 302 of the Penal Code, which relate to kidnapping and murder, respectively. The court’s decision came at the end of the prosecution stage, marking a significant moment in the legal proceedings.

The trial took place in the Muar High Court, where the prosecution presented its case against Shanmuganathan and Mageswaran. After thoroughly examining the evidence and hearing the arguments, the court found that the prosecution had not met the burden of proof required to establish a prima facie case. As a result, the court acquitted both defendants without calling for their defense.

The defense team, comprising lawyers Dato Geethan Ram and Revin Kumar, successfully argued that the evidence presented by the prosecution was insufficient to link their clients to the crimes. The defense’s strategy focused on highlighting gaps and inconsistencies in the prosecution’s case, ultimately leading to the acquittal.
