Shankar A/L Manirajoo was acquitted of murder and relieved as the Court of Appeal overturned his conviction and death sentence. Initially charged alongside two others for the murder of Kathiravan A/L Ayasamy in 2016, Shankar’s defense argued that the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case against him. Despite his co-accused being acquitted at an earlier stage, Shankar was convicted by the High Court of Melaka. However, upon appeal, issues regarding identification and material contradictions in prosecution witnesses’ testimonies were raised. Represented by Dato’ Geethan Ram Vincent and Mr. Revin Kumar, Shankar successfully walked out of the Court of Appeal as a free man.
